Farewell to Lion Heart

Lion Heart, G1 Hollywood Futurity and G1 Haskell Invitational Handicap winner stallion of our Club, died due to circulatory disorder caused by heart failure.

Lion Heart, born on 18 January 2001, started its racing career as a 2-year-old in US in 2003. He had a very successful career, which lasted for 2 years and 10 races.

After winning G1 Hollywood Futurity in 2003, Lion Heart finished second in G1 Blue Grass Stakes and G1 Kentucky Derby in 2004. In the same year, he won the G1 Haskell Invitational Handicap and G3 Long Branch Breeders' Cup Stakes. Lion Heart finished his racing career with 5 wins and 3 seconds as a 3-year-old.

Entered to stud in US in 2005, he was included in Jockey Club of Türkiye’s stallion roster in 2010. His successful progenies abroad include G1 winners Bradester, Dangerous Midge, Line of David, Tom’s Tribute, G2 winners Azul Leon, Bourbon Courage, Kantharos, Know More, Soul Warrior, Uncaptured and Agave Kiss, Falling Sky, Heart Ashley, Pretty Prolific, Silent Valor are listed among Lion Heart’s Group race winner progenies.

In Türkiye, he is the sire of G2 winners Lion Wind, Forever Here, My Freedom, Denizcanım, and Last Chance Lady, Group race winners Dayım Benim, Grasyas, Karadamar, Yaparsın Oğlum, Yes of Afrika, Adonisim, Casa Grande, Çar Brusk, Emperor Sion, Extra Rumooz, Gürsoyhan, İz Bırakan, Lozan, Magic Moment and Urla Rüzgarı. So far in Türkiye, Lion Heart has had 607 running progenies in Türkiye, 387 of which are winners, with 1379 wins and approximately 137 Million TL earnings.

His daughters Derya Sultan, She Molf, Tatvan Gülü, Scarce Dancer and Şahizer bred Graded race winners in Türkiye, such as Lead Soldier, Zillion, Romani Kalibre, Nirvana, Mine of Fire and Bird Nest. Lion Heart’s daughters’ progenies has had 197 runners with 289 wins and over 42 Million TL earnings.

The thoroughbreds coming from the bloodline of Lion Heart, who served to Turkish breeding sector for long years as a stallion and sire of mares, keep being successful both in Türkiye and abroad.
