We Lost Our Stallion Powerscourt

Powerscourt, G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and G1 Arlington Million winner stallion of our Club, died due to heart attack.

Powerscourt, born on 01 April 2000, started its racing career as a 2-year-old in Ireland in 2002. He had a very successful career globally, which lasted for 4 years and 21 races.

After finishing G1 Racing Post Trophy in second place, Powerscourt won G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes in 2003. He won G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup by leaving his closest competitor 6 lengths behind, at his first start in 2004. In the same year, he started and was placed in G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes, G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen, G1 Arlington Million, G1 Irish Champion Stakes, G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf and G1 Hong Kong Cup. Powerscourt finished his racing career with the victory in G1 Arlington Million at the Arlington Park in USA, as a 5-year-old.

Entered to stud in Ireland in 2006, he was included in Jockey Club of Turkey’s stallion rooster in 2010. His successful progenies abroad include G1 winners Finnegans Wake, Termagant, El Farrero and Mr. Dany, and Court of the Realm, Troya, Alucina, Tontona, Rich Court, Dona Sarita, Tao Mina, Sundar and Stalactita are listed among Powerscourt’s Group race winner progenies.

In Turkey, he is the sire of G1 winners Mister Görkem and Klaus, Group race winners Powerman, İpek Su and Extra Power, Group race placed Petekcan, Lambourn, Misar, Ascella, Goycochea and Eskayra. So far in Turkey, Powerscourt has had 205 running progenies in Turkey, 108 of which are winners, with 340 wins and approximately 27 Million TL earnings.

His daughters Starmoon, İpek Su, Tokyo Venture and Ascella bred Condition winners in Turkey, such as Trilya, Ball of Love, My Queen Love and Mamba Forever. Powerscourt’s daughters’ progenies has had 40 runners with 34 wins and over 4 Million TL earnings.

The thoroughbreds coming from the bloodline of Powerscourt, who served to Turkish breeding sector for long years as a stallion and sire of mares, keep being successful both in Turkey and abroad.
