Secret Power is the Winner of 67^th 1000 Guineas

1000 Guineas (G1), one of the most important challenges for 3-year-old fillies before the Gazi Derby, was held on Sunday, 15 May, at the Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul.

1000 Guineas, first leg of Triple Crown with 2000 Guineas, for 3-year-old thoroughbreds, was held at the Veliefendi Racecourse on turf track 1600 meters.

Secret Power (Native Khan - Fleeting Mirage / Afleet Alex), owned by Emrah Karamazı won the race with her jockey Özcan Yıldırım  in 1.37.07. The gray filly, bred by Umut Coşar and trained by Yaşar Demir got her first Group victory out of 4 victories at the 7^th start of her racing career in 1000 Guineas.

Lady Palpatine (Bushranger - Emine Hanım / Distant Relative) finished the race in second place with her jockey Mustafa Çiçek, and followed by Hermione Granger (Luxor - My Lady / Mujtahid) with Vedat Abiş, Splendid (Luxor - Grand Expectations / Grand Ekinoks) with Tolga Yıldız and Wmurcott (King David - Thisbe / Yavuzstar) with Ayhan Kurşun. The margins were  1 Length – ½ Length – 2 Length – 2 Length.

Serdal Adalı, President of our Club, presented a trophy to Hayrettin Karamazı, who is the winning owner of the race and Permanent Member of our Club.

Gülnur Gülerce, Executive Board Member of our Club presented a plate to Yaşar Demir, the winning trainer.

Ahmet Özbelge, General Secretary of our Club, presented a plate to Özcan Yıldırım, the winning jockey.

Yüksel Göktürk, Executive Board Member of our Club; Muammer Kitapçı former president of our Club, Sadrettin R. Güney Atığ, Orhan Tanatar and Kemal Arif Turan, Permanent Members of our Club also attended the prize giving ceremony.
